Slipmat Week Notes 30/2026

Happy Saturday, people of Slipmat!

This weeks improvements are mainly related to improving and preparing the migration path and new v3 registrations.

Note: please inform your old Slipmat-friends and listeners that if a lost email prevents you from migrating your v2 account (after changing jobs, losing a domain, etc.), please just contact me ( Uninen / DJ Uninen everywhere or ville at this domain ) and give me some proof of ownership and I’ll be happy to help you complete the migration. We’re not a faceless corporation, things will get sorted out

New Features

  • Users can now claim old v2 accounts. If you have logged in via Apple or Google account or created a new account that did not match any of your old v2 account emails, you can now manually claim the old account to migrate your data over properly. Note: this is only available for users who don’t have an existing v2 account link.
  • Users can now promote legacy email to normal in-use email. We treat legacy v2 emails you migrate from your old account as frozen readonly data. If you want to take. old email into use, you can now claim it like a normal email and it will get transferred in use normally.

Enhancements

  • New authenticated homepage loading has been improved drastically. It’s still not good enough but its not as bad as it was. The homepage content will get a major upgrade soon after we get the big missing features launched first. Hang on tight!
  • An anonymous supporter donated Slipmat a month of Spotify subscription. That means all our music link conversions now work again as expected. Super Big Thank You from behalf of the whole community! :folded_hands:
  • Music Link Converter got a major upgrade. It matches YouTube links much better, it matches better when Spotify finds several results, and the overall matching logic is greatly improved so it generally finds more matches amongst different providers. This upgrade is immediately available on all chat channels and of course the standalone Music Link Converter tool page.

Bugfixes

  • Migrated v2 users were created with wrong joined date. This is now fidex and all existing data has been cleaned up – joiden dates are now correct for everyone.
  • Some migrated v2 users had a broken image set automatically. This is now fixed and all the data is cleaned so no user has a broken profile image. (If the old image was broken we just set an empty image by default now as for other new users.)
  • Artist dasboard showed briefly nonsense Backstage posts as the ordering got broken. This is now fixed.

Under The Hood

  • The first iteration of Stripe payments integration is now implemented and deployed. This is uses the most modern and secure building blocks, allowing us for example to support multiple currencies and saved payment details without having to store any confidential card or payment data on Slipmat servers. We’ll be adding related user-facing features soon.
  • The frontend tooling has been upgraded to use typescript-native-bridge that allows both Astro (powers the Web site) and Vue (powers all the applications, including the live page) to type-check the project over 3x faster. This makes both development and deployments much faster :tada:

Being able to work on the actual production page after almost six years of sidetracks feels nice. The existing features are also slowly getting better and better, it almost feels we’re back in business already!
