As our everyday lives are getting muddled within the walled gardens of big social media platforms I hope that small independent islands like Slipmat can bring some authentic life and love back in some small way. The current v2 site has had a good (and long!) run but soon it’s finally time to say goodbye. I’ve now closed the registrations for the v2 site (because we were getting lots of spam registrations). I was planning to open the new registrations today but we’ll unfortunately have to wait another week for that.
The new site is already open for existing users and current artists will be able to schedule new events there starting next week. (Ad-Hoc events can be livestreamed already!) The user experience is currently pretty awful as all the effort has been under the hood but we’ll hopefully get it better during the next few days
Expect to see all the current features working much better on the new site by the time we do the final switch (hopefully next week). We also already have some pretty exciting new stuff that I’ll go into more detail in the announcement post.
To be extremely clear: current artists and listeners do not need to do anything for the switch. You can just log in to the new site and everything Just Works (it was INSANELY HARD to do it like this –ie. have two totally separate systems working together at the same time in a fully backwards-compatible manner– but I felt it was worth it!). “The switch” just means that the current site will become “v2.slipmat.io” while the new v3 site will take over. No data will be lost and all your v2 data can be exported on the new site along with the new data. Currently streaming works on both sites but after the switch the current v2 site will be readonly.
For now I’d like to say heartfelt Thank You to all the artists and listeners who have stayed here through this whole long journey – hope to see you at the new live events really soon!
PS. If you want to be among the first people on the new site, hop on to the v3 chat and say hello!
Short status update: most active artists haven’t onboarded to the new site yet so we’ll wait one more weel until the redirect (don’t want to make it unnecessarily hard for anyone!)
Added detailed migration steps (they’re pretty short as you really only need to open the site and you’re done!) for both artists and listeners. Feel free to share these for your listeners or fellow artists: Version 3 Migration | Slipmat.io Docs
For my show on Friday, 23 January 2026, should I test it now and schedule it at v3, or set it up as I’ve been doing at v2?
I saw that your first test event isn’t until 27 January, so I didn’t want to “juosten kustu” (I can’t figure out how to phrase that idiom correctly! hahaaa) - I don’t want to make a mistake out of eagerness or haste!
The old v2 scheduling pages are disabled already (they redirect to the new site) so you don’t have much choice anymore, I’m afraid!
Testing is easy; set up your OBS/streamer according to the docs you’ll find from the artist page, then just hit “Start Streaming” in OBS (or whatever you use) and you can see and test your ad hoc stream right away without any setup! You’ll see the relevant details and links from the stream monitor page when your stream is connected.
Scheduling an event is easy as well; it works exactly the same except you’ll need to start the event from the artist stream monitor page instead of the event page itself like on v2.
PS. I’m pushing tweaks and polish to the new site several times a day so things are a bit moving target still. The fastest help is probably available on the v3 chat helpdesk channel – feel free to ping me there (or here) any time! → https://next.slipmat.io/chat/helpdesk/ ( /join #helpdesk in chat )
