Absolutely Fabulous Friday, people of Slipmat! ![]()
We have a crazy amount of changes and new features this week, finally emerging from the work done during past several weeks.
Slipmat is funded fully by the community. If you use and enjoy the site and are able support us financially, please consider supporting the site
For those who already do, Huge Thenk You – you enable us to share the love for everyone!
New Features
Support Subscriptions
User account page now has a Support Slipmat tab which allows anyone to create a monthly or yearly support subscription in addition to the previous one-time donation. These are now collected in one place. The support payments functionality has been in use since July so it’s already battle-tested and working well. The new thing added now is the recurring payments.
If you are able to, please consider becoming a Slipmat supporter ![]()
Shows
Artists can now create Shows instead of individual events. Shows have a schedule and their own public pages. Shows allow artists to create events fully automatically – zero actions needed after initial creation. You can decide if you want the events to have numbering or for example date-based titles.
Active show autocreates all events for you. You don’t need to do anything for things to Just Work but if and when you want to customize upcoming events, you can modify and update them as any other events.
When you eventually have to skip or postpone a show event, you can do it with one button (and an optional message) and the event gets either cancelled or rescheduled to the next slot and your followers get automatically notified (via a chat / homepage feed message AND per-user notification settings) of the cancelling so no need to manually post anything.
After you create a show you can move old events under the show so that they show up in the show history page. For now the UI is not really good for humans as it’s very complicated to do deterministically but you can point your favourite AI agent at it via Slipmat AI connector and it will do it in a couple of minutes.
Shows have lots of interesting functionality and possibilities but the initial implementation is still unpolished and not properly documented. We’ll add improvements and documentation soon.
Tipping
Tipping has been the last missing v2 feature not yet implemented. The Artist Stripe connection was implemented a few weeks ago and we’ve been testing live payments since. This is now exposed for all artists as an experimental feature which can be used after you connect your Stripe account.
The new Tipping functionality uses Stripe and automates the artist payments in a way that you first connect your own Stripe account to Slipmat, and the payments will then be made directly to your own account. When connected, you can enable or disable tipping per event and from the Stream Dashboard. Artist profile also has a setting for either enable or disable tipping by default for all events.
For now Slipmat takes 20% of the payments, rest goes to the artist automatically. We’ll soon open up artist subscriptions and make the cut configurable: you can decide yourself if you want to give 0% or 100% or anything between to Slipmat.
Tips use the standard Stripe UI elements and allow all payment options that Stripe allows.
The tipping plumbing uses the same exact flows and paths as the support payments that have been in use since July so we’re fairly confident that the basic things should work well. There are detailed logs from all payments in the artist logs and user logs, and you can manage everything from your own Stripe account.
As always, further polish, improvements and better documentation is coming soon ![]()
Installable Single-Page App
Authenticated users can now install Slipmat as an app from the (mobile) browser. This gets you a more native-like experience and allows stuff like native notifications in the future.
This is the first implementation and we’ll be iterating this in the future and eventually we’ll add “Install this app” screen for Android users when we get the native iOS app published – that way both Android and iOS users can have proper app experience (Android does this WAY better than ios!).
Enhancements
- User authentication session is now automatically refreshed when using the site. This removes any random issues of the site logging you out. Thank You @kirsi for the bug report

- Homepage feed is now customized for every user. This allows us to add things like filtering music links and articles based on your actual likes. Our goal is to keep this simple and ethical as previously mentioned. First notable improvement is that cancelling events yield notification for only to the artists fans and users who were RSVPd to the event.
- Event cancellation posts are now much better looking and the public event page also properly shows the cancel status on the page for SEO purposes.
- User lists and user counts are now created and calculated from one central place for live page and artist views. This makes all the lists properly unified and all the numbers now match without any lag as well.
- Optimized event HYPE rendering.
- Optimized event audience calculation.
- Optimized event statistics calculation.
- The RTMP API now calculates and returns a rough estimate of the delay of the stream to the Stream Dashboard. We don’t currenly use this yet but it can be used for roughly syncing up the artist actions for listeners. Example features coming up soon.
- Stream Dashboard request window got small UI cleanups.
- Stream Dashboard Glance Mode also got small UI tweaks.
Bugfixes
- Request system modals can now be closed in every situation.
- Fixed an issue with scheduled events where reconnected stream created a new Ad Hoc event instead of connecting to the live scheduled event.
- Fixed an issue with database connection closing that caused intermittent errors in the API.
Misc
- We now have an experimental native iOS app. The app is in very early stages but if someone wants to test it, dm me in the chat

Slipmat Desktop Alpha-30
- Enhancement: app authentication no longer needs local browser redirect; its now more robust and simpler.
- Fix: copying and pasting works now properly using keyboard shortcuts.
